Measure the drop
For a rectangular table, add twice your desired drop to both the length and width. A 72 × 40 inch table with a 10 inch drop needs a cloth around 92 × 60 inches. Compare that target with the available sizes.
Consider the shape
For a round table, add twice the drop to its diameter. For an oval table, measure its longest and widest points and check the cloth’s shape. Allow room for chairs and guests to move comfortably.
Finish thoughtfully
Allow space for glassware and serving pieces when choosing placemats. Check whether each product is sold individually or as a set, and follow the specific care instructions for its fabric and trim.
