Usually one guest
A five-piece place setting commonly includes a dinner knife, dinner fork, smaller fork, larger spoon and smaller spoon. Exact utensils vary by pattern.
Check the composition
Many featured services use four utensils per person for six guests. That is different from six five-piece settings, which contain 30 utensils.
Count people, then pieces
The Infini 48-piece service supplies four utensils each for twelve guests. Twelve five-piece settings supply 60 utensils. Choose around your menu.
A table that feels natural
How to set the flatware.
Place utensils in the order you will use them, working from the outside in. Set only the pieces the meal calls for; add dessert or coffee utensils when they are needed.

For everyday meals
A knife and fork may be all you need. Keep a smaller spoon nearby for coffee or dessert instead of crowding the setting.
For a longer dinner
Add utensils by course. A separate dessert fork or spoon can be brought with dessert. Think about fish, steak and shared dishes when planning extras.
For the center of the table
Serving spoons, serving forks, salad servers and a cake server do a different job from individual utensils. Plan them separately from the guest count.

Flatware that belongs in the room.

Always follow the instructions for your exact piece and finish. Christofle’s current guidance makes an important distinction for lacquered Talisman.
Wash gently
Use a soft sponge and soapy water; dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasives, chlorine and citric-acid detergents. Do not clean silver with vinegar.
Dishwasher guidance
Christofle excludes Talisman from dishwasher use. For eligible cutlery, its guidance specifies a maximum of 65°C / 149°F, suitable chlorine-free powder or tablets, and keeping steel knife blades from touching silver surfaces. Do not wash with crystal glassware.
Talisman
Hand wash lacquered Talisman. Its care routine differs from the other featured collections; confirm any special-finish instructions before cleaning.
Silver & tarnish
Use products intended for silver-plated or sterling silver pieces. Follow the product directions, including washing and rinsing where required. Regular use helps reduce tarnish.
Stainless steel & cases
Do not use Christofle silver-care products on stainless steel. Wipe stainless steel storage cases gently with a soft cloth; avoid abrasive cleaners.
Put it away carefully
Use suitable protective chests, cases or lined storage modules. Christofle offers anti-tarnish-lined storage to help protect silver pieces.
